The "NATIONAL'S" Simple Order Blank. How Your Measurements Should Be Taken For "NATIONAL" GARMENTS. How to Find Your Size for Ladies' and Misses' Garments. It is very easy to get perfect-fitting garments at the "NATIONAL." All you need to do is to have someone take your measurements exactly as we describe and picture here and then write them carefully on the other side of this blank. There is just one proper way to get your correct size—that is by actually having your measurements taken—not guessing at them. Please, therefore, actually have your measurements taken according to the diagram shown here, and be sure to use an accurate tape measure. "NATIONAL" garments are shaped so perfectly and made so carefully that we need to know only a few simple measurements to insure your getting a perfect-fitting garment. Bust Measure—(Take measurement over shirtwaist or over your dress.) Pass tape measure entirely around the body over the fullest part of the bust, well up under the arms. Do not take this measurement too tight and do not allow tape measure to slip down in back. Make no allowance whatever. Waist Measure—Take this measurement around smallest part of waist over your skirt. Hip Measure—Take measurement around hips over skirt, seven inches below waist-line, not too tight. Do not allow tape measure to slip up or down. Length of Skirt or Petticoat—This measurement should be taken from the natural waist-line. Measure from top of waist-band in front (3) to length desired (4). How to Order Gloves. Measure the hand over the knuckles. Draw the tape measure close but not tight. The number of inches your hand measures is the size glove you wear. Never order gloves too small. If your hand measures a little larger than a regular size, order the next larger size. For instance: If your hand measures 6⅜ inches order size 6½. And in ordering be sure to state size and color desired. Infants', Children's and Girls' Garments. If the child is of average size, simply order by age. If you cannot tell size required, give age, chest measure and length desired and we will send the correct size. Unless otherwise stated in the descriptions of the articles, Infants' garments are carried in sizes up to two years; Children's Coats and Dresses in sizes from 2 to 6 years; Girls' Coats from 8 to 14 years, and Girls' Dresses from 6 to 14 years. ($100 REWARD.) We Have No Agents. SEVERAL of our customers have been swindled by men claiming to represent the National Cloak and Suit Company. We have no agents. $100—REWARD—$100. We will pay $100 reward for information enabling us to arrest and convict any person who claims to be our agent and accepts money in our name or who solicits orders and accepts money in our name. WE want all our customers to keep this in mind because in a number of towns some of our customers have been tricked into believing that they were trading with the "NATIONAL" when they went into a store which used a name similar to ours. We have no branch stores, so whenever you see a store marked "The National Cloak & Suit House," "National Sample Suit & Cloak Co.," "The National," or any similar name, you may know it is not a branch store of ours. A WARNING. We will prosecute to the fullest extent of the law any person, firm or corporation using a name which, because of its similarity to ours, results in misleading our patrons. We want to warn such people that our use of the word "NATIONAL" as applied to wearing apparel is protected by the United States trademark laws and has been upheld in the Federal Courts. We pay no reward for notifying us of any such stores but our customers will be doing us a favor if they will write us at any time they see a store which they think is making use of our name. TEST. THE "NATIONAL" PURE FABRIC LAW. Test—to find out the whole truth about every Fabric—and then TELL THE WHOLE TRUTH! THAT is the "NATIONAL'S" Pure Fabric Law. Our own chemists and textile experts test every fabric we use—test it for strength, which means wearing qualities; test it chemically to find if it is as represented, if it is all wool, or silk, or linen. If a fabric is not WORTHY—that is, serviceable and good value at the price—that fabric is not used in a "NATIONAL" Suit, or Skirt or Dress. Our testing protects YOU. We could buy materials on appearance, on judgment, on what they seem to be—but we prefer to spend thousands of dollars each year on testing—on making absolutely sure. And further, we tell you the truth about every material. If a material is part cotton—we say it is part cotton. But it is a GOOD material or we would not have used it. And a little cotton is not a thing to avoid. Sometimes a fabric with a little cotton is better than a cheap all-wool material at the price. There are many different grades of wool, you know—and all-wool is not by any means a guarantee of quality. Some of the new coatings, velours for example, are made with a little cotton used as a binder. They are excellent materials. But we tell you that cotton is there because you have a right to know. And so you do know—when you buy at the " NATIONAL." Because we test and test and test to learn the truth and then we tell the truth to YOU. PART COTTON. The material left is cotton. ALL WOOL. All dissolved means ALL WOOL. Home Test. Get an ounce of caustic potash from your druggist (DON'T touch with your hands—caustic potash burns severely). Dissolve in a pint of cold water, using an agate pan. Boil your sample for ten minutes. All the wool will dissolve. (Always wash the pan carefully after this test, using vinegar to remove the potash.) Amazing values in Men's Clothing—pages 391 to 419. National Cloak and Suit Co. Page 10
