Philipsborn 1916-17

In 1916, women's fashion is characterized by very wide skirts - the so-called war crinoline. While World War I rages in Europe, the mail-order business continues unabated in the United States, which is not yet involved in the wartime conflict.

The latest French models are the inspiration and starting point for Philipsborn's 1916-17 Fall/Winter catalog offerings, and a total of 44 new scans from that catalog - much of it in color - have found their way into today's update. As a result, more than 1,100 fashion images from 1916 to 1933 are now available.

The fashion years 1922 to 1924 have now received a source list, with the fashion reports covering 1922 and 1924 significantly revised and expanded.
